Airlines Suggested Not to Use European Aircraft
Written by Lowongan Kerja on 07.55TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The government has suggested that national airlines not look for European aircraft products, such as Airbus, for adding to their fleets.
Budhi Mulyawan Suyitno, Director General of Air Transportation, said that the government does not forbid Indonesian airlines from buying or renting European airplanes.
However, the consequence of airplane purchase or rental costs will swell by around US$200,000.
The cost, he said, is for taking the airplanes from Europe to be checked in Indonesia.
The checking of European airplanes has to be done in Indonesia following the government's ban on sending Transportation Department inspectors to Europe.
The ban, said Budhi, was taken as it is impossible that the government send inspectors to Europe to check the airplanes to be bought or rented by Indonesian airlines yet the airplanes cannot fly to Europe.
The suggestion has already been conveyed to all national airlines.
“I've sent them the letter,” said Budhi.
As already reported, some airlines had planned to order European-made airplanes, such as Mandala Airlines and Batavia Air.
